Learn Through Active Play: Active Play as Behaviour Guidance (Virtual Zoom)

Discover how active play can be a powerful tool for guiding behaviour in supportive, proactive ways. Active Play as Behaviour Guidance helps you reframe “challenging” behaviour as communication, using observation and reflection to understand children’s needs before they escalate. You’ll explore how co-regulation, sensory awareness, and thoughtful planning of environments and routines can create calm, predictable spaces that invite constructive exploration and independence.

By learning to guide behaviour through an active play lens, you’ll strengthen your reflective practice, build stronger relationships, and foster a more regulated, connected, and joyful learning environment for everyone.

Facilitator: Hilary Bartlett, B.A., is an Early Childhood Educator based in Newfoundland and Labrador. Hilary joined the Learn Through Active Play team as an ECE Consultant and facilitator to empower educators to create meaningful, active play early learning spaces that enrich the experiences of both children and staff. She serves on the Boards of the Association of Early Childhood Educators Newfoundland and Labrador (AECENL) and the Canadian Child Care Federation (CCCF), where she champions educator voices and sector sustainability across Canada.
