Advocacy in the Early Years – Virtual Event

January 29 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

The Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario (AECEO) is your professional association. Our mission is to build and support a strong collective voice so that ECEs can create and participate in positive change that benefits children, families, communities, and ECEs. We fight for respect, recognition, professional pay, and decent working conditions for all members of the early years workforce. Through our work, we strive to create caring spaces where ECEs can be, learn, and grow together through reciprocal relationships.

On Wednesday January 29th, from 6:30-8PM, the AECEO team will be virtually visiting your community and we hope that you will join us! This will be an opportunity to learn more about the work of the AECEO, what we do as the voice of ECEs in our province, and what advocacy looks like in the early years. We will network, share experiences, and be in community with other early years professionals. See you there!

About the Facilitator: Amber Straker is a Registered Early Childhood Educator and currently works as the Project Coordinator at the Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario. She has a BA from the University of Waterloo in Psychology, a diploma in Early Childhood Education from George Brown College, and a certificate in Project Management from the University of Toronto. Through her work, Amber focuses on supporting those in the early childhood sector to come together in community, to recognize the power of leading with care, and to work together to strengthen our collective voice and change the status quo in our field. She believes that advocacy starts with a conversation, and looks forward to having those conversations with others in the field.

Offered:         Virtual (Zoom)

Suited for: All RECEs, EAs, ECAs, ECE Students, Supervisors, Community Partners, Home Child Care Providers and Visitors.
